Ikhlas App - Internship Project

Published on March 1, 2025

During my internship, I designed new features and improved existing ones on the Ikhlas app to enhance the overall user experience.

I had the opportunity to dive deep into meaningful design work that combined spiritual impact with practical digital solutions. It wasn’t just a learning experience—it was a chance to contribute to a platform that helps Muslims connect with their faith through technology

One of my main tasks was to redesign the homepage of Ikhlas.com. The goal was to create a more welcoming, informative, and user-friendly experience, especially for first-time visitors. I worked on simplifying the structure, refining the visual hierarchy, and aligning the UI with the brand’s tone—calm, respectful, and trustworthy. I collaborated closely with the product team to ensure every design decision enhanced both usability and spiritual intent.

Beyond the homepage, I was also responsible for creating reusable design components that could scale across both the mobile and web versions of the app. These components helped maintain consistency and saved the development team time during handoff. From buttons to cards to modal layouts, everything was built with accessibility and responsiveness in mind.

Another major highlight of my internship was designing the Dua & Dhikr feature. This involved UX thinking beyond just visual design—I had to understand the different ways users search for or engage with daily duas, and how we could make that experience more intuitive and peaceful. I paid special attention to typography, spacing, and theming to ensure readability and a distraction-free environment.

I also led UX research on the Umrah booking experience. By conducting user interviews and mapping out current user flows, I helped the team identify pain points in the journey—from choosing packages to getting essential guidance. The insights were used to improve the clarity and confidence users felt when making spiritual travel decisions.

Throughout the internship, I continuously helped maintain design consistency across mobile and web platforms, reviewing design QA with developers and updating files in Figma to reflect real-world implementation.

Looking back, my time at Ikhlas.com wasn’t just about pixels and prototypes—it was about creating a more thoughtful user experience that served real needs in the Muslim digital space. I’m grateful for the opportunity to work on purposeful projects and grow both as a designer and as a collaborator.
